College Student Ministries

The Tuscaloosa area which we serve is home to three colleges — The University of Alabama, Stillman College, and Shelton State Community College. We sit on Bryant Drive, surrounded by the University of Alabama campus. The examples below are just a few of the ways we seek to reach out to the student community. Disciples House

Disciples House stands next door to our Fellowship Hall. The house contains student apartments and a common area. Students attending UA, Stillman, or Shelton State who are connected with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) live in the house rent-free and split utilities. Openings are filled on a first-come-first-served basis each semester. For more information, contact the church office.

Student Group

Residents of Disciples house and other UA students gather weekly for dinner and a student-led Bible study in the common area of the house. Some weeks they do a fun social activity, like bowling or a movie, instead. Many of these students also attend Sunday services and take part in the other ministries and opportunities here at First Christian.

Welcome Back, Students

On the first day of each Fall semester, you’ll find members of First Christian out on the lawn handing bottles of water to passing students, professors, and anyone else who happens to walk by. Each bottle comes with a smile and a warm welcome back to another academic year.

Campus Parking

Our location on Bryant Drive near Hackberry Lane provides convenient access to many locations on the University of Alabama campus as well as some of the surrounding retail and residential areas. University students, employees, or others who live or work in the area may purchase permits to park in our lot on weekdays for $175 for the full year. Stadium Parking

Our Disciples Men group sells parking in our lot for UA home football games. For more information, see our Game Day page.
